FAQs
FAQs
What is Shamatha Vipassana meditation?
'Shamatha' which means 'tranquility' or 'peaceful abiding' is the ancient meditation technique taught by Buddha himself to his very first students. Shamatha meditation helps us to develop mindfulness and concentration. The practice of Shamatha meditation helps us get peace of mind by developing a steady awareness of breath or bodily sensations. The meditation techniques in Shamatha practice helps us be at peace with our thoughts and emotions not by 'forcing' or 'controlling' them but by simply developing the capacity to understand their true nature.
Can I learn Shamatha Vipassana meditation in 12 days?
Yes, our well-structured program will help you learn all the basic techniques of Shamatha meditation in 12 days. We will provide you supporting theory and home practice so that you can develop the practice independently also. However, as with any other meditation, the mastery of techniques also depends on your practice.
How is this practice different from others?
Shamatha meditation completely depends on the meditator's own mindset and practice. There is no complex philosophy or mythology to understand before one can fully start practicing this technique. Unlike other meditations, there is no complex set of mantras, kriyas or theory that you have to remember to practice Shamatha meditation. It is a completely scientific meditation practice and the benefits are very simple for you to understand right from day 1 of practice.
